Studio MU / YU
“If you are passionate about what you are doing, you will eventually find the time and effort to make it happen."
This sentence is what ended our head designer's marketing career and ignited her passion to learn about woodworking, a challenging craft that she initially had no clue about. So, she took a short break and signed herself up at woodworking school in Taiwan. Those were the best six months of her life. She immersed herself in the culture and discovered that she had a soft spot for old-new things - things that had faded away and were forgotten; only to be given a new lease of life.
Studio MU / YU, based on the chinese characters 木语, embodies the ‘character marks’ as well as the story behind each and every grain and texture in a piece of wood. All pieces made have its story to tell.
Some Days at Home collaborated with Lyn from Studio MU / YU to design pieces made from hard pine wood that was supposedly discarded but to bring it in to instil a new 'wearable' life to them. Instead of the usual light wood, we opted to go for a darker tone, perfect for the holiday season!
